What Are We Learning?
Reading: The children will be using Oxford Reading Tree resources. The first few book have no words. This is to allow you and your child to talk about the pictures in order to tell the story. This is a very important building tool for new readers. They will learn new words through games and active learning.
Writing: Children will use a combination of Tools for Writing, Black pen drawings to promote a love of writing and to develop skills throughout the school year. Again, writing will be taught through activities, games and lots of practice both directed and free choice.
Numeracy: In Numeracy in term we will be building our children’s number knowledge through the use of Maths Mastery. We would encourage you to work with your child to notice maths in their environment: counting stairs when you step on them, using toys to count objects and finding directions and place words such as; in, out, near, far, next to and beside etc.
