P5/4 Parent Information leaflet
This term in literacy, P5/4 will be focusing on using our imagination and ambitious
vocabulary to write imaginative stories. We will be creating our own characters, settings
and story plots both independently and as a class. P5/4 will also continue to develop their
reading, spelling and handwriting abilities as well as their listening and communication
skills through our active in-class lessons and outdoor learning experiences.
In numeracy, the children are working hard to develop their mental maths skills. We have recently finished a block of money lessons where the children were making new amounts and making change using notes and coins. We are now learning how to gather and present data in a variety of charts and graphs. The children will be gathering data from their peers and in the
outdoors which they will share with you on Seesaw.
Throughout our new water topic, P5/4 will develop their understanding of values and human rights as they work together to complete experiments and solve problems. We will investigate floating and sinking, the effects of temperature, the water cycle and water filtration. Many of our projects a experiments will be carried out during our outdoor learning lessons in the school grounds and in the local community.
